Some teams choose to do additional indoor training/futsal/indoor soccer sessions over winter. These are outside of the registration coverage and are paid for separately.
All Select players are required to pay additional $50 field usage fee.
Select Uniform Kit cost to be ~$200, final pricing dependent on total uniforms ordered for the club. New uniform kits to be utilized for a 2-year cycle , so order sizing accordingly. Uniform kit to include 2 jerseys, 2 pairs of shorts, and 2 pairs of socks.
New Berlin Soccer Club will offer select teams for boys and girls beginning at the U11 age level. Teams will be given an A or B designation. The number of players trying out and coaching availability will determine if there is a B team.
The purpose of the select team is to provide instruction, skill development and competition to those players who possess a higher level of soccer skills and a desire to play at this level.
The expectation for each player at this level is to improve their individual skills in order to help the team compete at an appropriate level and perhaps gain enough skills to move up a level at the next tryout year. Depending on age, teams will compete in the SECL or State League Premier.
PARENT PARTICIPATION
To ensure your athlete thrives in this competitive environment and the team reaches its full potential, we require parents to prioritize the following:
-Commitment & Punctuality. Elite performance starts with discipline. Players should arrive fully geared and ready to take the pitch at least 15 minutes before practice and 45-60 minutes before matches. This ensures a professional warm-up and allows the coaching staff to implement tactical plans without disruption.
-Performance Mindset. Foster a resilient "growth mindset." Encourage your player to take ownership of their development, embrace challenges, and view setbacks as learning opportunities. High-level play requires mental toughness and a relentless work ethic both on and off the ball.
-Tactical Sideline Protocol. We maintain a "silent sideline" regarding technical instruction. Please limit your involvement to positive encouragement. Over-coaching from the sidelines creates confusion and hinders a player's ability to make independent, split-second decisions. Trust the coaching staff to handle tactical adjustments while you focus on supporting the team’s collective effort.
SELECT TEAM TRYOUTS
Select tryouts are held to choose each team at the select level. These tryouts for select teams are held annually, generally in June and will be the responsibility of the Director of Coaching and Player Development. Exact dates will be shared mid-Spring.
The Director of Coaching, along with assigned evaluators, will assume responsibility for selecting players to teams. All efforts will be made to insure that these evaluators will be experienced soccer personnel who are generally not personally acquainted with the players trying out for the team. Players are not guaranteed a position on any team simply because they played on that team last year. In the unfortunate case where a player does not make a select team, it does not mean that they will not have a place to play. There will be an effort to create a team at the skill appropriate level if the numbers can support it.
COACHING SELECTION & EVALUATION
Our Select program is led by a dedicated cohort of coaches committed to advanced player development. To maintain the competitive integrity of our teams, our selection process follows these standards:-Professional Standards Licensing. Unlike recreational tiers, our Select coaches are often paid or highly experienced parent-coaches who have met specific licensing and performance criteria.
-Curriculum & Development. Director of Coaching works to ensure a unified playing philosophy across all competitive levels.
-Selection Process. All coaching positions are appointed based on experience, licensing, and a proven ability to develop elite athletes. Interested candidates must undergo a vetting process through our Director of Coaching.
